| An optical component allows for the transmission of light in only one direction. When the light flows back in the reverse direction due to the reflection caused by the connector node and optical circuit components a phenomenon known as the 'faraday effect' can occur. An optical isolator plays a pivotal role in preventing this faraday effect from occurring, by allowing light to travel in a forward direction, but block the light travelling in the reverse direction simultaneously. |
